I’m a food writer and PR based in Poole, Dorset. To say I’m obsessed with all things edible would be an understatement.  I believe that every mealtime should be gourmet in a little way; that means little or no processed food and lots of great ingredients.  Even the humble sandwich can be a thing of great taste and satisfaction so there are no excuses for substandard food… it puts me in a dreadful mood, I’d rather go hungry.

My style of cooking is typically rustic with big bold flavours and I am influenced mostly by my Libyan background and childhood years in living in Dubai. Basically North African and Middle Eastern cuisine ticks a lot of boxes for me. I’ve been lucky enough to travel a fair bit and eaten weird & wonderful things; flying squirrel curry, camel meat, and even Masai mead (made by the tribal women who spit into the fermented juice of the sausage tree!). Thankfully whilst I am inspired my travels, I won’t be preparing any of these at my supper clubs or including them in my fuss free recipes.

My partner & I forage for mushrooms and berries in the New Forest during the autumn, and enjoy cockling and clamming on the seashore too.  We have a bread oven in the garden, and I can honestly say we make the best crispy pizza ever and a damned fine 18 hour pulled pork (Mexican carnitas anyone?).  Check out our blog www.itsanadventure.co.uk for more details

I don’t really buy into food fads and fashion and I eat ALL of the food groups (just in moderation). You won’t see me on the no sugar, no carb, no dairy, gluten free wagon but I do like experimenting with new ingredients, especially if there is a health benefit attached. If something can be made more nutritious and it either improves or doesn’t affect the taste of the dish I’m all for it.
